Job Summary
Diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases and injuries in children. Mayrefer patients to specialists for further diagnosis or treatment, as needed.
Essential Functions:
Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination,and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease,or injury in infants and children. (50%)Treat children who have minor illnesses, acute and chronic healthproblems, and growth and development concerns. (10%)Examine patients or order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests toobtain information on medical condition and determine diagnosis. (5%)Advise patients, parents or guardians, and community members concerningdiet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention. (5%)Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments withpatients and parents or guardians. (5%)Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medicalhistory, reports, or examination results. (5%)Monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments asnecessary. (5%)Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary. (5%)Teach residents or medical students about pediatric topics. (5%)Provide consulting services to other physicians. (5%)
Education:Doctorate Degree Graduate of an accredited medical school RequiredLicenses:MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required
Certifications:BE in pediatricsBLS required via American Heart Association or American Red Cross
