  Business Purpose for Role

  The Electrical Systems Owner role has two fundamental components: Technical and Safety Ownership. Both components are crucial to a successful site electrical safety program. Technical is the hands-on work that is focused on electrical systems with voltages greater than 50 volts. Safety system ownership ensures the site is executing the Electrical/Power Safety Systems to a satisfactory level and providing safe operations that are documented and followed. ESO also Leverages the Electrical Systems KEA to measure the overall status of site electrical systems.

  Responsibilities and Scope of Role

  Responsible for electrical power systems at the site from the utility service point down to 50 volts (including battery charging for switch gear and lift trucks). Power systems include medium and low voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, protective relays, generators, transformers, power distribution panels, motor control centers, panel boards, meters, power tools, and personal protective equipment.

  Responsible to keep single line drawings, short circuit studies, coordination studies, and arc flash hazard studies up to date.

  Knowledgeable of and meets applicable codes and laws.

  Leads the review of proposed changes to electrical systems.

  Holds the level of safety qualification appropriate for the complexity and hazards of the electrical system at the site (refer to HSE CBA 8016).

  Manages maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of power systems.

  Responsible for testing and inspection of power system devices and equipment. Responsible to correct deficiencies or failures.

  Maintains equipment maintenance, repair, and test and inspection records.

  Responds to power system emergencies.

  Serves as the primary contact for the electric utility company concerning outages (planned and unplanned), utility reliability, etc.

  Knows (or can look up) the available capacity of power system equipment.

  Plans, manages, and completes follow up work for scheduled electrical outages.

  Maintains the site power system master plan which includes current capacities, potential projects, and capacity needs.

  Maintains a disaster recovery plan listing repair and replacement resources for critical equipment. This may be part of the master plan.

  Ensures electrical installations are done correctly and meet applicable codes and standards.

  Responsible for the Electrical Systems Design & Construct and Operate & Maintain checklists in the HS&E KEA. Participates in HS&E audits.

  Tracks defect handling.

  Responsible for the electrical safety program at the site.

  Maintains site electrical safe practices.

  Supports and provides electrical safety training and qualification per HS&E CBA 8016.

  Provides all employee electrical safety awareness training; task-specific electrical safety training; low and medium voltage electrical safety training.

  Manages energized electrical work permits at the site per HS&E CBA 8015 and local laws.

  Manages temporary wiring permit system

  Knowledgeable of and meets applicable codes and laws.

  Participates in the investigation, reporting, and follow up of electrical systems incidents.

  Maintains contacts and communication with the utility company as needed to manage electrical safety.

  Able to use single line drawings, short circuit studies, coordination studies, and arc flash hazard studies.

  Gives input to the Overall Risk Assessment in the review of proposed changes to electrical systems.

  Participates in the management, scheduling, procedures, methods, etc., for testing and inspection.

  Manages the selection of tools, equipment, and PPE used for work on electrical systems using PCP 650 as a guide.

  Participates in the selection of electrical contractors.

  Participates in HS&E audits.

  Job Qualifications

  Skills/Qualifications Required to Successfully Perform Role (some may be developed while in role)

  License Electrician by the State of Massachusetts, or recognized by State of Massachusetts

  Extensive Knowledge of Site Power Distribution System

  Is low voltage qualified (50 to 1000 V)

  Is medium voltage qualified (1000 to 36 kV)

  Advanced hardware and software troubleshooting skills (ATS, PM tools, etc.)

  In-depth root cause problem solving capability

  Skills to plan and execute down-days and outages

  Skills to lead and execute projects and initiatives following P&G standards and design practices

  Priority-setting

  Communication skills necessary to interface with vendors, engineering contacts, core teams, and management

  Skills to troubleshoot, repair, and make improvements to electrical systems in the department

  Self-motivation – able to perform job with little or no supervision

  Skills to handle both group and individual conflict

  Skills to perform electrical and instrumentation work following all electrical safety procedures

  Job Skills Required:

  Medium Voltage Qualified

  ESO Qualification per P&G CBA

  Priorities and Approximate Allocation of Time:

  50% - Electrical System Ownership

  30% - Coaching and building capability within the team

  20% – New projects and Initiatives

  The Procter & Gamble Andover Plant operates 7-days per week. We rely on local talent and relocation is generally not paid. E&I Technicians work on fixed shift schedules throughout the week. Additional days may be required to be worked as overtime, including work on weekends, which may be as overtime or as part of the E&I Technician's normal schedule. Changes in business volume and production requirements can cause the Plant to occasionally change the length of work shifts or schedule. The hours of work vary from 8 to 12 hours per day. E&I Technicians are expected to be willing to work any shift.
