Payroll Project Analyst II Location: Detroit, MI Duration: 3-4 months Description: The Opportunity (Position Description) The Analyst, Payroll (EC) supports the audit and management of third party managed tax activities to ensure timely, accurate and compliant data management. The Skills You Bring (Job Qualifications) 1+ years of progressive payroll experience in a multi-company, multi-state environment AS or BS degree in accounting, finance, or related area Experience with tax deposit and filing required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Creative problem solver Query and report writer experience desired Workday payroll experience highly preferred Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Word) Strong critical thinking, customer service and responsiveness skills required The Work Itself (Job Responsibilities) Audit employee system tax set-up and its translation to withholding with the payroll vendor. Follow through on issues to determine root cause, resolution and recommendation of system/process changes required to ensure improved results Review of vendor tax deposit and return filings to ensure timely, accurate completion Audit of quarterly filings Work with Global Payroll Accounting group on any tax related reconciliation issues as needed Participate in Year-end and W2 planning, coordinating with vendor on any special requirements Work with vendor on unemployment claims management service issues Work with tax jurisdictions to understand issues, direct to responsible resource and follow up to ensure successful, timely resolution Research and resolution of pre-conversion, historical tax issues Audit research and response Creation and support of periodic and ad-hoc payroll and payroll accounting queries Tax related process review and documentation Cross trained to provide backup coverage for payroll processing as needed
