  Position: Patient Services Representative

  As a Patient Services Representative (PSR) at MaineGeneral Health, you will be the cornerstone of our practices, embodying the roles of patient advocate, access specialist, and service coordinator. Your responsibilities will go beyond routine tasks, ensuring the diverse needs of our patients, their families, medical personnel, and administrative staff are met. By developing strong and sometimes lifelong relationships within your community, you will provide care and support during some of the most significant moments in their lives.

  MaineGeneral Health PSRs enjoy a diverse range of roles and responsibilities, ensuring that no two days are ever the same. From scheduling appointments and collecting insurance information to maintaining patient records and facilitating communication between healthcare providers, your role will be engaging and multifaceted. Proficiency in computer skills, multitasking, and the ability to work independently are crucial for success in this capacity.

  The Work:

  Greet patients, answer phones, and perform clerical duties to support clinical departments.

  Schedule appointments using computerized scheduling programs.

  Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization as necessary.

  Determine and accept required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refer to financial counselors for follow-up.

  Ensure timely and accurate entry of all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information into the registration system.

  You Have:

  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and support skills.

  Ability to be flexible and shift priorities quickly.

  Strong attention to detail.
