Scope:
Patient Care Technician / C.N.A. responsibilities:Respond to patient care needs by answering call lights, assisting patientswith hygiene care, obtaining vital signs, and communicatingconstructively, effectively and timely with members of the care team.Perform 12-lead EKG duties commensurate with the level of training receivedand competency.Apply, check and document restraints as directed by the RN or physician.Perform wound care, stoma care, and specimen collection.Perform equipment and tube care/management e.g. JP's, hemovacs andnasogastric tubes, and Foley removal.Assist with patient transfers, admissions and discharges as directed and incompliance with the principles of safe patient handling.Order and maintain office and patient care floor stock/supplies.Perform the duties of unit secretary. Maintain patient charts, respond tophone calls, maintain daily assignment board, provide equipmentcare/cleaning, perform errands associated with patient care and provideaccurate information about the patient with an interdisciplinary team.Assist physicians and RNs as directed.Demonstrate and adhere to the standards of infection prevention.
Requirements:Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training programCertification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practiceCurrent BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or theability to obtain within 60 days of hire (with prior approval)Preferred:High School Diploma or equivalentAt least two (2) years of experience as a C.N.A.
