Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP is currently seeking a Patent Associate with at least
two
years of experience to join our Intellectual Property and Technology practice. This position will be based in our Washington DC office and include options for a hybrid work schedule. The position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated patent prosecution and technical analysis work relating to computer hardware, computer software, telecommunications, electrical, electromechanical, and automotive technologies.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include mid-level patent attorney work such as drafting, filing, and prosecuting US patent applications, managing and coordinating international patent application strategies, preparing patentability, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions, and overall intellectual property counseling.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
U.S. Juris Doctorate DegreeAdmission to the District of Columbia Bar is expected if not currently admitted.Candidates should possess an undergraduate degree or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or similar background.Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications is also required.Experience in drafting patentability, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions, as well as general client counseling in Intellectual Property issues, is considered a plus.Admission to USPTO preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Experience
At leasttwo yearsof experience practicing patent law and proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others on complex matters. Demonstrated experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.Strong legal writing skills are essential.Excellent communication skills are essential, both written and oral.Consistently excellent judgment is essential.Must be a self-starter, have the ability to prioritize workload, and work well under pressure.Possessing strong analytical skills is essential.Industry, court clerk, and/or PTO examiner experience desirable.Experience and skill in analyzing patents is strongly preferred.Must be capable of handling routine tasks with limited oversight.How to Apply
