Montgomery County Community College invites applications for the Part-time TRIO Upward Bound Literature and English, Non-Credit Trainer position. The Upward Bound Program is seeking applications from creative, energetic, and enthusiastic trainers interested in a fixed-term, summer teaching opportunity at the Central campus in Blue Bell, PA. Upward Bound is a college preparatory program designed to motivate and prepare selected low-income/first generation high school students for the successful pursuit of a college education.
Academic Year Tutoring, Academic Saturdays, SAT/ACT Prep: (8-15 hours per week).
Six Week Summer Academy: Four days per week for 3 hours (9:00am-12:00pm)
*This is a temporary grant paid position and is contingent upon grant funding.
This position requires the PA Child Abuse, PA State Police and FBI Fingerprinting clearances.**
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Education/Training/Work Experience:B.S. or B.A. with a strong background in English or Literature; master's degree preferredPennsylvania teaching certification and two years experience teaching English at the high school level or higher desiredExperience in developing a curriculum that addresses the individual needs of students using non-traditional methodsExperience teaching low income and/or first-generation college students
