About the Department/College
The Institute for Human Development (IHD) is an interdisciplinary unitand the oldest Institute at NAU. IHD is housed in the College of Socialand Behavioral Sciences on the campus of NAU in Flagstaff, Arizona. IHDis a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities(UCEDD) emphasizing four core function areas: Research and Evaluation,Interdisciplinary Education and Training, Community Service, andInformation Dissemination.
The Special Education Learning Experiences for Competency in Teaching(SELECT) program falls under the Interdisciplinary Education andTraining core function. It is one of three current academic programsalong with the Disability Studies Minor and the Assistive TechnologyGraduate Certificate. SELECT courses are recommended for teachers,administrators, related-service personnel, paraeducators, and otherinterested individuals and offered through IHD but sponsored by theArizona Department of Education (ADE).
About the Position
NAU SELECT Program requires qualified educators of students withdisabilities who are skilled at designing and implementing curriculumfor improving professional competency in special education. SELECT issearching for an expert in the content area of High-Leverage Practicesfor Students with Disabilities, particularly in the domain of"Intensify and Intervene as Needed". This position is a part-timefaculty position not eligible for tenure or renewal.

Design and teach a 3-Credit course for NAU SELECT program in thecontent area of High-Leverage Practices for Students withDisabilities, particularly in the domain of "Intensify andIntervene as Needed.Additional Information
This position is subject to the availability of funding. Theincumbent is not eligible for Service Professional non-renewalnotice, or Classified Staff layoff or recall status.This position is a remote position which allows the incumbent to complete their work at a location other than an NAU site, campus, orfacility with or without accommodation. The incumbent mayoccasionally work in a shared site, but primarily will workelsewhere.The course will be offered an average of once every three semesters(Fall, Spring, Summer).This position is posted as Part-Time SELECT Instructor, which isa working title. The NAU system title for this position isPart-Time Temporary Instructor.Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Special Education or related field.5+ years of experience working with students in Special Education.Familiarity with online technology and best practices ininstructional design.Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience teaching and/or training educators who servestudents with disabilities.
2+ years of experience supervising and/or mentoring educators who servestudents with disabilities.
Familiarity with online technology and best practices in instructionaldesign.
Experience teaching in higher education and/or experience teaching adultlearners.
