The Humanities Collegiate Division and the Department of RomanceLanguages Literatures at the University of Chicago invitesapplications for part-time Lecturers during the 2024-25 academic year.
The selected candidate will have part-time teaching opportunities invarious courses of the French Language curriculum. Responsibilitiesinclude preparing and teaching seminar-style language courses using ahighly interactive communicative approach, holding regularly scheduledoffice hours, and the preparing and grading of assignments and testingmaterials. Depending on the curricular needs of the department, thesuccessful candidate may teach between one and four courses per academicyear.
The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered bya collective bargaining agreement between the University and ServiceEmployees International Union. The per-course salary for academic year2024-25 will be at least $7,538. This position is not benefitseligible.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Master's degree or equivalent in French or arelated field, superior proficiency in French according to ACTFLguidelines, and at least one year of experience teaching French at thecollege or post-secondary level. Preference will be given to applicantswith a Ph.D. or equivalent in French and/or an advanced degree in secondlanguage pedagogy/acquisition.
