During the autumn, winter, and spring quarters of the 2023-2024 academicyear, the Humanities Collegiate Division and Department of Linguisticswill have part-time teaching opportunities in American Sign Language.
Minimum qualifications are native or near-native proficiency in ASL(ASLPI proficiency level of 4 or better); at least a Bachelor\'s degreein Sign Language Teaching, Deaf Studies, Linguistics, or closely relatedfield; knowledge of Deaf Culture; and demonstrated experience withinstructional technology. Teaching experience at the college level(ASLTA Certification will be considered) is strongly preferred butcandidates applying directly from ASL-teaching graduate programs withoutprior college-level experience may be considered. Preference will begiven to candidates who also have experience working with students withdiverse backgrounds and/or who have challenges to learning.
Responsibilities will include teaching introductory or advanced languagecourses, holding office hours, advising students on projects in ASL, andparticipating in cultural activities designed to enhance the experienceof students studying ASL and to help them learn about Deaf culture.
Depending on the curricular needs of the program, the successfulcandidate may teach between one and four courses per academic year. In2023-24, the minimum per-course salary is \$7,538. This position is notbenefits eligible.
