　　POSITION PURPOSE:

　　Respond to 911 calls and interfacility and tiered transfer requests, providing direct patient care within the Central Ambulance service-area. Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse, assist with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care within MercyOne ElkaderEmergency Department. Initiate and provide care within the scope of practice as defined by law providing emergency care to a wide range of patients including pediatric, adult, and geriatric.

　　What you will do:

　　Provide direct patient care in both the pre-hospital and hospital setting.

　　Cover on-call hours as directed and per departmental need.

　　Completes required vehicle, equipment and supply inspections with appropriate documentation.

　　Maintains constant means of communication with dispatch.

　　Attends monthly meetings and training programs.

　　Ability to lead and function in a supervisory role while responding to calls.

　　Participates in protocol development, quality assurance programs, and equipment/medication changes or upgrades.

　　Additional duties as assigned by manager.

　　What we are looking for:

　　Licensed State of Iowa Paramedic (required), must maintain active licensure.

　　Complete required continuing education every two years to maintain current certification status.

　　Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS.
