　　Job Summary and Qualifications

　　*1. Contributes information to a licensed nurse to the assessment of the health status of Emergency Department patients.

　　*2. Participates with the licensed nurse in the development and modification of the patient's plan of care

　　*3. Assists the licensed nurse in implementation of plan of care and documents in chart patient response to interventions.

　　*4. Provides for patient safety.

　　*5. Attends meetings and in-services as required by departmental policy.

　　*6. Contributes to the growth and development of self and department.

　　Maintains good working relationship with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, and other hospital staff.*8. Maintains competence with Meditech system.

　　*9. Maintains a well-stocked unit.

　　*10. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers.

　　*11. Maintains a neat and organized work place.

　　*12. Functions in an organized and time conscious manner.

　　*13. Presents self in a professional manner.

　　What qualifications you will need:

　　EDUCATION:

　　Required: High school graduate or GED equivalent.

　　LICENSURE:

　　Required: Virginia Division of EMS EMT-Paramedic certification.

　　Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider

　　Required: American Heart Association Advanced Life Support (ACLS) Health Care Provider (Within 6 months of hire.)

　　Required: PALS certification; PHTLS or BTLS certification. (Within 1 year of hire.)

　　EXPERIENCE

　　Required: Previous ER or comparable experience.

　　Preferred: 3 years field experience as a certified EMT-Paramedic.

　　Hours: PRN
