Qualifications: 60 hours of college credit or Para Pro Praxis
Reports to:Director of Special Services
Job Goal: Serve as support for the instructional personnel in order to provide
a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which
students can take full advantage of the instructional program and
available resource materials.
Position: This position could be working in a special education classroom, small groups of students,
or assisting as a classroom aide. The specifics will be determined at a later date.
Performance Responsiblity:
Under cooperation of a licensed teacher assists in classroom activities
Works with small groups of students or an individual studentto reinforce material initially introduced in the
students' classroom
Assists individual students in need of special attention
Performs clerical duties
Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work as directed by the teacher
Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties such as snack, restroom, and clothing
Checks notebooks, corrects papers and supervises testing and make up work
Participates in in-service trainings
Exemplify a professional attitude toward fellow staff members
Adhere to all policies of the BOE
Be familiar with the classroom program in order to act as a short-term substitute in case the regular
classroom teacher is absent
Present an appearance and maintains a decorum that will promote a positiveeducational environment
Proceed through staff-line relationships in requests, concerns, misunderstandings, and/or difficulties
Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as the administration or teacher may
assign
