Gordon Food Service is hiring an Packaging Specialist. This candidate will manage multiple packaging graphics projects for Gordon Food Service (GFS) private branded products. Develops and manages project timelines with internal and external partners, ensuring deadlines are met and speed-to-market. Supports Food Safety and Quality Assurance Teams to ensure regulatory compliance of all packaging artwork and supports Private Brand Marketing to ensure compliance with brand positioning and rebranding efforts. This position serves as the primary liaison between GFS and external packaging design agencies.
Responsibilities:
Proofs and approves packaging graphics for all private brand products, ensuring regulatory and brand standard compliance.
Develops project timelines and milestones to assure speed-to-market of deliverables.
Leads meetings for project status updates, ensuring deadlines are met by internal and external stakeholders.
Trains vendor partners in the GFS specification system to ensure accurate product specifications and packaging dielines are collected.
Explores alternative packaging solutions with vendors and printers to introduce innovative packaging to the GFS Private Brands and to find cost savings opportunities .
Collaborates with printers and vendors to gather and manage necessary packaging components including die lines, product information, and packaging samples.
Communicates and presents project updates to Category Managers and Brand Marketing team to ensure alignment with overall brand strategy.
Interacts with other Packaging Specialists and a variety of vendors on a daily basis with tact, diplomacy and integrity.
Manages, tracks progress and identifies/removes obstacles for all packaging design work done by an external agency.
Coordinates and facilitates product photo shoots to obtain images for retail packaging.

Must have presentation, written and verbal communication, and problem solving skills to represent the department.
Able to understand, follow and create processes in order to complete projects in a thorough and timely manner.
Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment.
Able to effectively communicate project requirements and hold others accountable to deadlines.
Working knowledge of labeling laws and regulations preferred, but not required.
Experience:
At least two years of previous package design experience with an emphasis on project management or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific education and experience requirements
