User Assistance Team – Database Development

What’s this job about?

Want to be working with one of the world’s largest software companies to design and develop user assistance (UA) assets, including product documentation, tutorials, videos, self-study, etc., on cutting edge technology and products?

This is your opportunity to demonstrate your skills and aptitude to learn about the Autonomous Database and share your knowledge and expertise in reviewing and improving high quality UA assets that are indispensable for various user communities such as developers, administrators and managers. The specific product line for this role is Oracle Autonomous Database and its related tools.

Tell me more about this job role

As an Autonomous Database Developer intern, your first assignment is to immerse yourself in learning about Oracle’s Autonomous Database. You’ll be given materials to read, workshops to try, and videos to review.

You are expected to have, or quickly attain, subject matter expertise on these products. You will translate your product knowledge into testing, revising and building effective UA materials, which will assist customers / partners / employees through the various stages of product adoption. For example, you will review our Autonomous Database LiveLabs (tutorials), test them, and revise them for accuracy. The Autonomous Database product features change rapidly, and need to be kept up to date with the latest UI. This material requires accuracy as it is often our customers first exposure on how to onboard with our premier Autonomous Database product line. You will be working very closely with UA Developers, Product Managers, and the Product Development teams to influence the effectiveness of the product.

This position requires solid technical aptitude, excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to complete projects. Proven ability to test material, and update, and organize it logically is absolutely critical . Technical expertise in Oracle Database application development languages such as SQL, PL/SQL and tools such as SQL Developer, is desired.

You may work either individually or with multiple team members on your projects and are expected to report on your progress on a weekly basis.

Objective Minimum Qualifications

Have academic course work, projects, internships, and/or research experience in one or more of the following Computer Science areas:

Database Systems/Design

Cloud Computing

Computer Systems / Distributed Systems /Embedded Systems / Operating Systems

Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning / Natural Language Processing

User Interface Design

Have academic course work, work experience, or completed project research in one or more of the following Business Management areas (or equivalents):

Computer Science

Cloud Computing

Database

Application Development

Business Analytics

Attend a university in the US.

Authorized to work in the US in 2024.

What Skills and Experience should I possess?

Require BS degree in Computer Science or related area.

A minimum of two years of experience in interacting with various UA assets is required.

Strong knowledge and experience with Oracle Databases, exposure to cloud software. Strong experience with non-Oracle competitive products will be considered.

Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and development software tooling is desired.

Experience with MS Office, Articulate and Camtasia tools is highly desirable.

Experience with SDL CCMS, Arbor Text edit is highly desirable.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for global audience.

Strong ability to graphically illustrate complex concepts.

Strong attention to detail.

An excellent team player and able to work on complex projects with a group of other UA developers/technical writers in various time zones.

Additional Information:

Hourly wage is $30 per hour. This is a 40 hour per week position.

Internship runs from July 29, 2024 through October 18, 2024 – must be available full time 40 hours per week during these dates.

US: Hiring Range: from $18.99 to $53.00 per hour; from $39,500 to $110,240 per annum.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
