JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Orthopedic Clinic Technician responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: providing direct and indirect patient care as directed by providers and participates in surgical and non-surgical procedures as well. The Procedural Technician assists orthopedic provider in room during in clinic procedures, including but not limited to: carpal tunnel releases. This individual measures and fits patients for braces and other orthopedic devices. He/ She will educate the patient in the use of these devices. The incumbent applies mobilization and immobilization devices for inpatient and post-operative patients, i.e. shoulder slings, knee immobilizers, traction, abduction pillows, continuous passive motion machines. This individual will actively participate in the surgery and procedure scheduling process and will implement protocols that assures patients are appropriately scheduled for procedures and assure that all needed testing, prior authorizations, and coordination of resources have been completed prior to the procedure/surgical date. Works closely with the Orthopaedic Clinic Coordinator and Staffing Coordinator to coordinate and maintain providers’ procedural schedules, staffing schedules, delegate key responsibilities and possess the ability to lead and direct the orthopedic technician clinical team in the flow of patients with the assistance of the clinic coordinator. Must possess exceptional organizational skills. Assist and train the orthopedic technician staff to support Providers during procedures. Responsible for supply management and ensuring monthly outdates are completed in procedural area. He/She will be required to attend 80% of staff meetings.

　　KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: The Technician should demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology. He/She must have excellent Gross and Fine motor skills. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Prior experience in hospital, athletic training sports medicine or physician office setting is preferred.

　　EDUCATION: High School Graduate or GED preferred. Degree in Athletic Training preferred. Maintains knowledge, skills, and abilities through ongoing education. Completes all mandatory review/ education as required and assigned.

　　LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: State of Montana license in athletic training preferred. Certification in Athletic Training or Clinical Medical Assistant required. BLS required.

　　Aptitudes: Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Open to feedback, and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments.
