Job Summary:
In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the certified surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualizes age specific care to patients, maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes, and ensure patient s physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.
Job duties include collaborating with the other surgical techs in the department, orienting new surgical techs as they are on-boarded, ensuring all cases are picked and prepared for the next day. The certified surgical tech will participate in daily huddles with Lead OR Tech, OR Nursing and SPD to ensure appropriate trays and instruments are available to next day cases and ensure all physician specific pick sheets are updated.
Responsibilities:
Properly prepares the sterile field
Properly receives and labels medications on to the surgical field
Properly identifies and handles basic instrumentation, sutures and needles
Communicates the needs of the patient or surgeons to the circulating nurse
Acts as a patient advocate through use of Time Out, and Surgical Safety Checklist
Assists with the room cleanup and returns instruments to central supply for the decontamination process
Performs all other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Must be a Certified Surgical Technician
Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association
Successful completion of all orientation and departmental programs required
Additional experience/training may be required based on departmental specific needs

$33.12 Hourly Rate
