  OPS Environmental Health Aide

  Your Specific Responsibilities:

  This is a temporary, full-time position providing administrative support to the Environmental Health Section of the Florida Department of Health in Collier County. This position is expected to perform inspections of regulated facilities including, but not limited to, mobile home parks, public swimming pools, group care facilities, biomedical waste facilities, tanning establishments, etc. Clerical support to include answering phone calls and emails from clients, billing and payment tracking support, assisting with walk in clients, scanning and filing. File management and paperwork follow up from inspections. Participation in approved trainings and staff meetings

  This position will report to the Environmental Administrator. Certain immunizations and TB testing may be required.

  Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  Knowledge of general office procedures

  Knowledge of personal computers and software

  Skill in typing and the use of word processing equipment

  Ability to handle telephone calls in a courteous and effective manner

  Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

  Ability to schedule and coordinate assigned work responsibilities

  Ability to work independently

  Ability to follow instructions

  Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness

  Qualifications:

  Required:

  Valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  Must be able to lift 50 pounds and must be able to move freely around inspection sites, including swimming pool decks, and work outside in high heat and humid conditions.

  Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours in the event of a disaster or as needed.

  Ability to attend out of town meetings and training sessions for several days on occasion.

  EMERGENCY DUTY: Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat thereof, man-made or natural.

  Preferred:

  A bachelor’s degree from an U.S. accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 credit hours in a related science field

  Bilingual in English/Spanish both written and verbal
