Join us and let's Imagine a better way together. Position Summary: The Bindery Operator performs manual and machine operator tasks related to the operation of paper cutter and folder machines. SHIFT: Tuesday - Friday, 2:30pm - 12:55am Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Operates Polar, Inpro and Perfecta paper cutter equipment ranging from 40 - 141" Takes cutting orders and sets up cutter in accordance with instructions Sets automatic cutting programs into machines Operates paper cutter to cut and trim blank stock and printed material that is to be further processed in the Pressroom or Bindery. Performs preventative maintenance on paper cutting machinery such as blade replacement, lubrication, and waxing. Uses lift truck to carry pallets with blank stock and printed paper from loading area to Press area, and from Press area to Bindery Cleans up and keeps work area neat and orderly Works overtime as needed Performs other duties as requested Mandatory Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience with cutter machine operation and set up practices. Understanding of operation and function of the other bindery equipment and machinery Preferred Qualifications: Ability to communicate/understand written as well as oral instructions Ability to read and understand written instructions including those dealing with dimensions and quantity. Ability to apply written instructions to machine set-up. Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions. Knowledge of simple computer operations. Knowledge of all procedures required to safely operate a guillotine cutting machine and associated bindery equipment. Reliability through attendance, punctuality, and attention to workstations Bilingual or multilingual proficiency in any language (including ASL) preferred Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs. Ability to visually inspect all work for defects and distinguish colors. Frequent reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and stooping. Manual dexterity for repetitive work. Frequent walking and standing.
