JOB REQUIREMENTS: Operator - 2024 - 0050 DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Chemical Operator to join ourPersonal Care business at our Menomonee Falls, WI location. This is avery visible, significant role within the Company and the manufacturingfunction. This position will report to Production Manager. Theresponsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, thefollowing: * Ensures timely and accurate completion of all productionoperations during the assigned shift by his/her Lead Operator at therequest of the Production Supervisor and the demands of the business.Ensures accurate information exchange prior to shift change to theirLead Operator. Calls to the attention of the Lead Operator any perceivedchange in the process status, problems or potential problems as theyarise. * Performs all routine production operations such as mediapreparation, fermentor batching, sterilization, inoculation,fermentation and product recovery (centrifugation, filtration, solventextraction, and solvent recovery and batch distillations). Tracksproduct kgs from the start of broth recovery to finished goods forexpected recovery/yield/quantify per processing step and promptlynotifies the Lead Operator and/or the Development Group whenencountering less than satisfactory results. This consumes approximately75% of the Operators time. * Performs, records and understands resultsof analytical testing of in process and finished product samples usinginstruments such as GC/HPLC and associated HP ChemStation software,Karl-Fischer, optical density, pH and microscope for counts/possiblecontamination. Must be able to make decisions with this data to keepfermentation and recovery processes within control parameters.Represents approximately 25% of the Operators time. * Operates the CIPsystem for cleaning lines and processes equipment. Must comply withAIB/GMP guidelines. * Ensures complete production and analyticalrecords as well as maintaining an accurate plant inventory. * Ensuresall processing areas/equipment are in a clean, sanitary, safe andpresentable state. Properly starts up and shuts down all equipment andensures building security at all times. * Follows the appropriateStandard Operating Procedures for every process and piece of equipment.Critically reviews the Standard Operating Procedures and recommendschanges when needed. * Notify the Lead Operator or MaintenanceDepartment of any unusual vibrations, sounds, or behaviors of a piece ofequipment that could signify a developing malfunction or change inoperation. Assists the Maintenance Department by performing routinemaintenance of processing equipment and completing simple work orders.* Ability and willingness to work as part of a team to solve problems.* Must take ownership of their own training and work with their leadperson or supervisor to ensure full knowledge of the building and itsoperations within 1 year. * Maintains a safe working environment byutilizing appropriate safety procedures, equipment and PPE. * Receivesgoods and associated documents at the shipping dock. * Performs otherrelated duties as directed.
