Job Summary
An Operations Engineer is responsible for the overall operational health, efficiency, and reliability of technology systems and applications. This includes optimizing and maintaining the operational aspects of our systems and applications. You will work closely with development and IT teams to implement automation, monitor system performance, and ensure seamless deployments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both software development and IT operations, with a focus on enhancing overall system monitoring, reliability, and efficiency.
Details of Essential Functions:
Operations Support
Collaborate with development teams to understand application requirements and infrastructure needs. Monitor system performance and implement proactive measures to ensure high availability. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, participating in on-call rotations as needed. Identify performance issues and troubleshoot or escalate. Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting. Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging systems for timely issue identification. Install and configure disaster recovery for applications or systems. Perform load, regression, and integration testing. Collect and maintain application logs. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document operational procedures and best practices. For this position, we are looking for someone with experience and expertise in core systems engineering skills and the specific technical skills listed below. We are looking specifically for individuals with skills and experience related to operations system engineering.
To be successful in this position, a person should have, at a minimum, a solid understanding and working knowledge of many of the following technical skills:
Monitoring Tools: Proficiency in using and configuring monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar solutions. Logging Systems: Experience with log management systems like Humio or similar solutions. Scripting and Automation: Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and customization of monitoring solutions. Databases: Knowledge of database systems and the ability to monitor their performance (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) Network Monitoring: Understanding of network monitoring protocols and tools (e.g., SNMP, Wireshark) Operating Systems: Proficiency in administering and monitoring various operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows). Infrastructure Components: Understanding of server hardware, storage, and virtualization technologies. Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and the ability to monitor cloud-based services. Networking: Knowledge of network protocols, routing, and troubleshooting. Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues quickly. Documentation: Ability to document monitoring configurations, procedures, and incident reports. Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Security Monitoring: Understanding of security monitoring concepts and practices. Organization: Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects effectively.

Software development experience and best practices API Integration Application development frameworks (Java, C/C++, C#, PHP, NodeJS, etc.) High level of communication skills across internal and external organizations Infrastructure ascode experience (Cloud Formation or Terraform) Understanding of basic networking (IPv4, CIDR, firewalls).
