  The Leadership Gifts Officer (LGO) works independently and as part of the team to secure annual gifts for Boston Children’s Hospital. Through phone calls, personal visits, and other meaningful interactions, the Officer will identify and qualify new prospects; cultivate, solicit and close gifts between $500 - $99,999; and steward annual leadership donors. This role will personally manage a portfolio of leadership giving donors/prospects needing sustained cultivation and stewardship.   This Leadership Gifts Officer will:

  Manage a portfolio of 250 - 350 individuals capable of making annual gifts of $500 - $99.999.

  Qualify new prospects for addition to leadership giving portfolios or assignment to direct mail, planned gifts or major gifts as appropriate.

  Cultivate, solicit, and steward these donors/prospects by focusing on personal relationships and substantive outreach. LGO will work to solicit unrestricted gifts for the hospital, a valuable revenue stream for hospital leadership and enterprise-wide priorities.

  Identify existing annual donors with the capacity to make larger gifts, and develop and implement strategies to build those relationships and cultivate as larger donors.

  Partner with hospital faculty to identify and qualify patient families within hospital departments for philanthropic engagement.

  Contribute experience and time to strengthening team and Trust activities and outcomes.

  Manage activities of specific leadership giving programs as assigned.

  To qualify, you must have:

  Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years of progressive experience in development, fundraising, non-profit management or related field.

  Writing and analytical skills to present compelling scientific, clinical, and research needs that require philanthropic support for the many and various departments/divisions at Boston Children’s Hospital.

  Strong strategy development and execution abilities to collaborate with peers and negotiate with external organizations and individual prospects around cases for support.

  Strong presentation and communications skills.

  Consistent attention to detail, high level of productivity, solution-orientation and responsiveness to both staff and donor issues.

  Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to develop proficiency in specific database management systems.
