About Office Support Specialist I

  Job Description

  The work location of this position is in Lowell, MA.

  The Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) would like to announce the availability of a full-time Office Support Specialist I position working in Lowell, MA

  Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  The Office Support Specialist will provide general office and clerical support to the Area Director, Assistant Area Director and the Service Coordinator Supervisors. Exercises sound judgement and discretion in handling confidential information and will be required to demonstrate a strong degree of decision making, and knowledge of the department. Manages office support functions including record keeping, inventory, office supplies, regional purchasing. Serves as point person and area expert for various agencies database systems such as Meditech, PAM (Participant Allocation Management) and HCSIS (Health and Community Services Information System). Works with the Revenue office and waiver management unit and manages assigned area projects including mass mailings and information gathering for the Revenue Department. Trains and supports Area Office Staff in the techniques and procedures in the operation of computer equipment, software and various databases when needed.

  The schedule for this position will be Monday-Friday 8:45 AM-5:00 PM

  Days off: Saturday and Sunday

  Office Support Specialist I:

  Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in administrative work experience or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below:

  Substitutions:

  I. An Associate's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.

  II. An Associate's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

  Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

  Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of two years of the required experience.
