This individual will be responsible for developing suspensioncomponents, creating and revising CAD drawings, generatingsuspension./vehicle layouts, and producing tolerance studies. Otherresponsibilities include but are not limited to:
Interface with the engineering team during product development anddesign analysis iterations.
Develop suspension components throughout the entire design process.
Generate suspension/vehicle layouts to determine clearance/interferenceunder varying conditions of load and articulation.
Create and revise CAD drawings in compliance with the ASME Y14.5M 1994Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standard. Create the solid models that areused for the geometry in these drawings. Follow all procedures forcreating, revising, and releasing drawings into the CAD system.
Produce tolerance studies that define maximum tolerances to ensureproper function and assembly.
Participate in APQP Supplier & Manufacturing reviews, and engineeringdesign review meetings.
Generate CAD data that is required for data exchange with internal andexternal customers. Translate this CAD data to a format that iscompatible with their specific system.
Support team members in creation of technical publications and customerpresentations.
Investigate and improve procedures within the Engineering Department.Identify areas of improvement, provide recommendations, and implementsolutions using appropriate tools (e.g. databases, spread sheets, etc.).
Design and layout of test equipment for lab tests.
The successful candidate will possess:
High School Graduate or GED required. For Senior level role, AssociatesDegree or Certificate of Completion in a Design/Drafting Programrequired.
2 years minimum experience as a mechanical CAD Designer using a 3D CADdesign package, NX preferred. (must demonstrate proficiency via designtest onsite)
- Must be proficient in parametric modeling of components
- Must be proficient in creating assemblies using matingconditions/assembly constraints
Experience / familiarity with the following manufacturing methodspreferred:
- Castings, Forgings, Weldments, Stampings, Extrusions
Experience / familiarity with the following machining methods preferred:
- Milling, Drilling, Tapping, Boring, Reaming, Broaching, Turning,Forming
Awareness of the following inspection methods preferred:
- Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), Table layout, Functional Gaging
Experience with Windows, and PC applications (e.g. spread sheets, wordprocessing...) required
Experience with TeamCenter preferred.
Ability to effectively interpret and apply the ANSI Y14.5M 1982 and ASMEY14.5M
1994 Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standards preferred.
Ability to effectively complete tolerance stack required.
Ability to effectively translate CAD Data (i.e. IGES, DXF, STP...)preferred.
Frequent sitting and working at computer for extended periods of time.
Occasional standing and walking on concrete.
Occasional climbing stairs and fixed/vertical ladders .
Ability to lift and carry up to 60lbs.
Ability to push/pull carts (minimal 25lbs) and parts (minimal 60lbs).
Ability to drive as required.
Ability to travel as required.
Exposure to R&D lab and manufacturing setting.
