Job Description
As a Production Tech III, you will perform the duties associated with the production of Caterpillar Diesel engines including but not limited to: Assembly, Logistics, and Quality Assurance. Production Tech IIIs report to Section Managers and will be assigned to departments within the business to meet customer and company demands.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Aligning and securing components as directed by work instruction
Aligning and installing gaskets, seals, bearings, hoses, covers, and visual components
Ensuring that parts and materials used in the assembly process are free from quality defects
Assisting other departments with problem solving or improvement ideas related to assembly
Verifying correct alignment of engine components using engine schematics and part prints
Inspecting parts and materials to ensure they are free from quality defects
Performing audits and carry out quality inspections to correct known defects
Performing torque audits, leak tests, and visual inspection on all engines
Following standard operating procedures and area specific work instructions
Maintaining and improving the integrity and reliability of process controls within the production process to ensure customer protection
Performing Plan/Method Audits of the production processes to ensure critical to customer actions are occurring correctly
Leading and supporting Caterpillar Production System continuous improvement activities
Providing support to quality issues identified on the production line as needed
Escalating issues and the necessary resources to root cause and develop counter measures.
Providing information to supervisors and managers about processes within assigned area
Creating quality alerts per established guidelines to maintain operator awareness
Executing special studies as directed by Section Managers to understand line performance
Monitoring quality performance of the line (reject activity, holds, etc.) and react to issues accordingly
All other duties as assigned
What you will have:
Ability to work well with others
Attention to detail
Strong problem solving and analytical skills (8D, Root cause analysis, etc.)
Knowledgeable with facility product and manufacturing process
Inspection/Process auditing experience
Basic tooling knowledge
Engineering blueprint reading/interpretation experience
Intermediate to Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office
Shift and/or value stream flexibility
What top candidates will have:
Experience utilizing PLEX.
12-24 months Manufacturing/Assembly experience or equivalent education
Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
Ability to perform repetitive operations
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
Additional Information:
$18.50/hour plus shift premium
Training on 1st shift 5am-3:30p until mid February
