St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system’s second-largest hospital. * * JOB SUMMARY: A Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for coordinating the nursing staff quality and appropriate delivery of direct and indirect patient care to a defined age-specific population via the utilization of the Nursing Process. Promotes a participative management philosophy and creates a positive environment for the professional practice of nursing. Promotes activities that foster continuous quality improvement to enhance patient care outcomes. Ensures patient flow throughout the organization. * Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use). * Broad knowledge of nursing standards and practices. Ability to coordinate, plan and direct multi-faceted operation. * Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians, managers, other agencies and the public. * Ability to work collaboratively with all departments. * Ability to handle multiple priorities. Demonstrated management and leadership skills. * Requires the ability to take the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems. Ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Experience: Three (3) years recent acute care experience and two (2) years progressive management or leadership experience. License and Certification: Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Education: Master's Degree in Nursing Experience: Four (4) years progressive management or leadership experience.
