Job Overview
Performs high quality pediatric Nuclear Medicine (NM) and PositronEmission Tomography (PET) / PET-CT procedures. Provides conscientiouspatient care while adhering to all quality and safety standards; to includeSafe handling and Management of Radio Pharmaceuticals. Performs administrativeduties including but not limited to scheduling appointments, patientinstructions, and maintenance of records. This position is responsible forcommunicating regularly with patients, families, and all hospital andcommunity caregivers while following department expectations for interactionswith patients and families. Required to be on call depending on location.

Qualifications
EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine program required.CERTIFICATION(S):American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: Registered Nuclear MedicineTechnologist ARRT(NM) or Nuclear Medicine Technology required.Certification Board: Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) required.American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for HealthcareProvider required.

These examples do not include all of thefunctions which the employee may be expected to perform.Produces high quality imaging while accurately demonstrating anatomy andpathology utilizing proper imaging protocols.Facilitates patient flow daily; to include management of STAT/urgent andhigh priority patients.Provides age-appropriate care and appropriately prepares patients forprocedures.Provides clear and detailed information regarding the procedure and care topatients, families, coworkers, and others.Operates all imaging equipment; to include ancillary equipment followingsafety procedures and protocols.Demonstrates and utilizes principles of ALARA (As Low As ReasonablyAchievable) and ensures proper radiation safety practices.Competent in dose reduction techniques and the Image Gently Campaign.Demonstrates and maintains competency and ability to use all aspects ofRadiology Information System (RIS), Electronic Medical Records(EMR), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) as itpertains to modality specific functions and use.Demonstrates initial and annual competency in IV placement and securement,vascular access devices and extravasation handling.In the event of an emergency will act as first responder and rovide BasicLife Support (BLS) until help arrives.Verifies patient allergies and clinical indications prior to contrastadministration. Safely administers contrast using the five rights. Ensurescontrast is appropriately ordered and documented in patients' medical record.Assists Provider with procedures as necessary (Maintaining technologistScope of Practice). Follows established procedural guidelines; documentsappropriate information as required; practices aseptic/sterile techniqueand standard precautions when necessary.Follows department policies, procedures and protocols.
