  Description

  Maritime Operations within Mission Technologies - Nuclear & Environmental Services, is looking for a Nuclear Engineer 4 to join the team in Newport News, VA.

  Nuclear Engineers are responsible for engineering and technical support for the construction, overhaul, testing and operations of propulsion and reactor plant components.

  What You Will Do

  The role involves designing, developing, and testing nuclear equipment and systems.

  Additionally, the candidate will conduct research on new materials of special interest in nuclear reactors and perform studies related to the detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants.

  The candidate will also study the nuclear fuel cycle to define the most economical uses of material and safest means of waste product disposal.

  Other areas of research may include radiation transport modeling, statistical analyses, and performance metrics.

  The candidate may also recommend various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility, or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency, or costs.

  What You Must Have

  Candidate is required to have either:

  Nine (9) years relevant experience with a Bachelors in Nuclear Engineering;

  Or seven (7) years relevant experience with Masters in Nuclear Engineering;

  Or four (4) years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.

  Candidate must have successfully completed an undergraduate Nuclear Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program.

  Candidate must have experience with nuclear reactor or steam plant operations.

  Candidate must have knowledge of nuclear and radiation safety principles.

  Candidate must be proficient in the use of desktop or personal computers with associated software (i.e., word processing, graphics, database, spreadsheets, etc.) or other computer products as required by the applicable discipline.

  Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

  Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.

  Physical Requirements

  May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
