WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The North American Indigenous Right Relations (IRR) Project Managerprovides project management skills to uphold the principles of IRR andhelp achieve the program\'s Vision of healthy, thriving Indigenouscommunities and the Goal of Indigenous Peoples considering TNC a valuedand trusted partner. You will lead activities under IRR Pillar III,which focuses on rematriation and aims to increase Indigenous ownership,use, and access to lands and waters-those owned by The NatureConservancy (TNC) and as well as those outside of our portfolio.Collectively, we call this work LandForward. LandForward is a rapidlygrowing and evolving body of work\'s response to the Indigenous-led callto action for #landback-which currently includes a research initiativeto identify metrics and targets for rematriating TNC lands as well as apartnership with TNC\'s Buffalo Restoration Program to increaseIndigenous land ownership for buffalo habitat. Future scope may includetechnical assistance and other initiatives to support Indigenous-ledconservation.As the Project Manager, you will be responsible forcoordination, oversight, and execution of necessary activities toadvance LandForward. You will help manage and implement LandForwardusing existing project management tools processes (Highly EffectiveTeams), while developing key topic expertise around land rematriation inthe TNC context. You will also ensure alignment of activities withinPillar III and between their work and other IRR priorities, workingclosely with the IRR Director and IRR Program Manager on initiatives andprojects that span multiple teams and programs within the North AmericaRegion.The IRR Project Manager uses project management tools andstrategies to develop work plans, set realistic deadlines, establishteam structures, facilitate meetings, manage timelines, clarify rolesand action items, and ensure accountability. You will have theopportunity to develop Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning processes toensure goals are met, and exercise independent judgment to identify,communicate, and solve problems related to the projects within yourassigned portfolio. You will work across matrixed internalteams-notably, colleagues based in the North American Regional Officeand staff located in s ate and country programs-to foster and maintaincollaboration and communication and to help drive the implementation ofpriority initiatives and projects in North America. The Project Managerwill have the ability to sensitively advise staff and will demonstratesensitivity in handling confidential information. You may engage inissue resolution and conflict management and work to collaborativelysolve complex problems. The Project Manager\'s work is diversified andmay not always fall under established projects, processes, or systems.
