About Network Monitoring Engineer

  Overview

  The Network Monitoring Engineer is primarily responsible for assessing, designing, testing, implementation & training of the Network Operations team on AMB’s monitoring platform software. This role will also have responsibilities focused on implementation & support using ABM standards & designs and working with the Network Services Team to implement ABM’s network systems. The Network Engineer will work with other Network Services Team Members and IT Teams within ABM, including Solution Architects and Enterprise Architects as well as Infrastructure Project Managers.

  Pay: $100,000 -$140,000

  The pay listed is the salary range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

  Responsibilities:

  Primary responsibility for development and maintenance of ABM’s Network Monitoring, Alerting & Reporting applications. From ensuring the health of our network systems to working with leadership to plan the roadmap for future monitoring requirements.

  Utilize and participate in creation of designs and standards, ensuring the adherence to these measures across the environment.

  Project Delivery for important initiatives such as site builds and refreshes as well as modernizing existing infrastructure as a part of lifecycle management.

  Environment Support including ServiceNow incidents and requests, Major Incident troubleshooting and collaboration, etc.

  Perform within the Plan/Build/Operate model at roughly 20% Planning & 80% Build/Operate

  Participation in the Lifecycle Management Process so as to ensure the stable operation of the production network including planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, & optimizing all network hardware, software, and data connectivity links with the assistance of Network Services team members

  Utilization of the Network Services Team’s Documentation Strategy, including project, support & backlog tracking, documentation generation and archival processes with an emphasis on technical debt and tribal knowledge elimination

  Conduct research and make recommendations on network infrastructure, services, protocols, and standards in anticipation and in advance of the business need, e.g. identifying toolsets, configurations and performing analysis to identify and remediate and improve the team’s understanding and ability to remediate deficiencies.

  Provide guidance and support to more junior team members, conducting and overseeing training sessions, standards, and best practices overviews.

  Participation in a weekly on call rotation to support the production environment.

  Qualifications:

  Any combination of requirements, which provide knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities, will be considered.

  Demonstrated 3-4 years of experience managing a SolarWinds Orion environment in a large corporate IT Environment (including design, patching, report creation, customized configuration, NCM, NPM, NTA, IPAM modules)

  Ability to monitor and analyze performance of Network systems using a diverse Network skillset and a variety of tools (ThousandEyes, NetFlow, Packet Capture tools such as Wireshark)

  Experience with PagerDuty or a similar Real-Time Operations/Incident Response tool

  3-4 years of experience in Network Engineering

  Strong Network Troubleshooting skillset in a campus & Data Center environment

  Demonstrated capability to build and support a production network environment (e.g. router & switch IOS/NXOS upgrades, design, configuration & support of a production network)

  2+ years of experience supporting data center environments (Cisco ACI, Nexus, ASR/ISR Routers)

  Undergraduate degree in computer science, systems analysis, related study or equivalent combination of education and work experience that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work

  Ability to research, identify and recommend industry best practices (using existing, new, and emerging technologies) for solving business problems

  Ability to maintain knowledge of IT network architecture, standards and practices and consistently apply these standards

  Ability to communicate complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences

  Preferred Qualification:

  Ability to monitor and analyze performance of Cisco CUCM using Network/UC Monitoring tools

  Cisco Professional level certification (CCNP, CCDP, etc) or equivalent experience

  2+ years of experience with Data Center Network Technologies, such as Load Balancers, WAN Optimizers, SD-WAN, Cisco technologies, Meraki, Wireless LAN Controllers

  1+ years of experience with Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE) or another 3rd party Network Access Control (NAC) product

  1+ years of experience with Cisco ACI or other versions of Network SDN

  1+ years of experience with Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM)

  1+ years of experience with Cloud computing (Azure, AWS, or GCP)

  Experience with Network Automation (e.g. Ansible)

  Experience developing strategies for implementation of QoS, and Multicast

  Experiencing with packet capture and analysis tools, NetFlow, IP SLA, etc

  Additional Qualifications :

  Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status.

  Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently to communicate with others, understand and interpret safety instructions, and to respond to inquiries.

  Ability to understand and comply with ABM guidelines and expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
