  MRI, a woman-owned Technologies and Engineering Services company, has an exciting opportunity for aGateway HALO Spacecraft Software Engineeronthe JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.We are excited about what we do, and we need you on our team as we take on exciting challenges for NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration. The process of docking spacecraft in space is a critical capability for many current and new missions being envisioned both by NASA and the commercial space industry. To fulfill this critical Gateway Halo Spacecraft Software Engineering role, you will need expertise in all aspects of the Human Rated software development life cycle, including:

  As aGateway HALO Spacecraft Software Engineeryou will:

  Software Management and OversightSoftware release planning and estimationSoftware testing and verificationReview lower-level software testing and verificationSoftware Process Assessments (including Compliance assessments) across the full development life cyclePerform software product assessment for completeness of design and implementation throughout the full software development lifecycleEnsure NASA requirements are satisfied by design solutions and support production/control board meetings, design and system reviewsSupport the development of CDR and manufacturing readiness review products and participate in module system reviewsInterface with NASA and spacecraft system engineering teamsSubsystem Software insight and oversightProvide engineering insight and oversight support for the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) prime contractor on assigned subsystem or subsystems.Coordinate with the Gateway Subsystem Management team on programmatic requirement change requests, design review support, interface definition and control, verification integration, and provide status on high level development progress and issuesMonitor system integration, interface management and coordinationDemonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, and coordination skillsMaintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractorsWork in a fast-paced, Agile environmentPerform other duties as requiredHere's What You'll Need:

  This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related area and normally possess 15 years of experience in the field or in a related areaTechnical(General)

  Experience with the development of space systems requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteriaExperience in risk assessment and implementation of risk reducing measuresExperience leading a software development project across the full development life cycleTechnical (Avionics and Software)

  Experience developing software across the full development life cycle Safety Critical Human-Rated Software DevelopmentHuman Rated Mature Software ProcessesData driven software systems and applicationsSoftware Testing and Verification (including Independent VandV)Writing/reviewing test and verification definitionsAvionics CandDH (Command and Data Handling)Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS)Autonomous SystemsProfessional

  Proficiency with team collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Webex, Skype, SharePoint, JiraExperience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop avionic systemsExcellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitudeExperience fostering a collaborative team environmentMust be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervisionFostering and working in a collaborative team environmentEffectively communicate across a wide range of technical disciplines, with vendors/contractors, direct customers and upper managementAbility to prepare written documents/presentations and to verbally present at various meetingsRequisition Preferences:

  Knowledge of systems engineering principles and associated documentationKnowledge of commonly used NASA concepts, practices, processes and procedures relating to mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and toolsKnowledge of the NASA Gateway Spacecraft systems and software, specifically for the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO)Experience with Core Flight System (cFS) Applications (or similar flight software framework)Experience with Time Triggered Ethernet (or similar protocols such as ARINC 664)Experience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop avionic systemsFault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) for Distributed Avionics ArchitecturesCapability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)Familiarity with:

  Software project management experienceSafety Critical Human-Rated Software Development ProcessesNASA software and systems development standards (incl NPR 7150.2)NASA/JSC documentation databases as well as typical systems engineering productsNASA/JSC engineering processesObject oriented software developmentAgile software developmentC/C++ codingLinux scripting languages such as PythonARINC 664, 653, SAE AS6802 or RTC DO178Data ValidationCode ReviewUnit TestingAlgorithm Design DocumentRun for Record test and resultsProof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
