COMPENSATION
This position has a salary range of $28.63 to $42.95 per year.

The Safety Assurance Specialist will represent the Safety Department in promoting, implementing, and maintaining the highest levels of safety standards throughout Northern Air Cargo's departments. This critical position is responsible for promoting a safety culture among employees and ensuring the quality of the organization's operational and safety management systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the Company's Internal Evaluation Program (IEP)Provide a schedule for evaluations to be completed annuallyConduct evaluations in accordance with the published scheduleMaintain records of the evaluationsAssist in managing the Company employee reporting systemProcess reports as they come into the systemPrepare summaries of reports and trend information for Safety Assurance meetingsAssist in the coordination of the ASAP programProvide safety program training to employeesConduct/assist department audits as requiredProvide assistance for accident/incident investigationsProvide safety management coverage when the Director of Safety is not available.Other duties may be assignedQUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or EquivalentBachelor's degree in Safety Management or Business Management is preferred.OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Possess knowledge of both occupational safety and internal evaluationsHave well-developed communication skills, and the ability to develop constructive responses to the safety and training needs of the business.Work within a multi-disciplinary, safety-sensitive work environment.Experience working within the Web-Based Assessment Tool (WBAT) database system is preferred.Safety Officer Training or equivalent preferred.Safety management training through an accredited organization is preferred.OSHA safety accreditation is desired.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or government regulations.Pass a pre-employment drug test, a 5-year background check and a 10-year criminal records check.TRAVEL
Travel within and outside Alaska as required 1-3 days per trip (10-30% of the time)LANGUAGE SKILLS
A high degree of language skills are required for this position. This is a skilled position.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.Effective leadership and interpersonal skills to communicate with a wide variety of audiences including senior-level managers, regulatory agencies, contractors, company-wide peers, subordinates, and others.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most work is performed in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation.May be exposed to adverse weather conditions, fumes, wet surfa es, and icy conditions.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is classified as "light" regarding the physical demands.Lifting requirements: Heavy boxes weighing 25 pounds, light office supplies, stacks of paper, and computer printouts.Carts may be pushed loaded with office supplies and/or computer printouts that may weigh 10 to 15 pounds.DISCLOSURE
