Summary: This position ensures the highest quality food standards andpersonal safety as a machine operator. Inspects raw material entering themachine, and the processed material leaving the machine remaining alert forpotential product defects. Ensure machine adjustments being utilized match theproduct specifications for the finished product. Maintain solid knowledge ofhow the machine works to ensure that it remains functional. Perform routinebasic maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs. Use problem-solving skillsto control lost time due to machine malfunctions. Support all for foodsafety, quality assurance, and product standards.

Is an AuthorizedEmployee who locks out and tags out equipment for cleaning, repairing,servicing, setting-up, adjusting, or unjamming operations. Understandjob hazards and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for the safe usageof the specific Hazardous Energy Control Procedures for the equipment.Inspect machinery to ensure that they remain compliant with specificationsto reduce any malfunctions and associated loss of production. Stop anymachines upon discovery of a problem and make the required adjustments asquickly as possible to minimize downtime. Keep all equipment running byinspecting grind plates, and performing basic maintenance, includingscheduling needed repairs. Follow production sheets, watching codes anddates, and ensuring raw material rotation is done correctly.Working across the entire manufacturing operation, work closely withcoworkers to properly operate and make adjustments to assigned equipment.Understand the process to assemble, disassemble, and operation of assignedmachinery. Perform safety check on equipment being used to ensure it isfunctioning properly Ensure that good housekeeping practices are applied tothe equipment and areas around the equipment.Operate equipment properly to maximize production and ensure safe andquality product. Ensure an adequate flow of raw materials to machine when inoperation and identify possible problems with machinery to ensure productquality, employee safety, and to minimize downtime. Communicate routinelywith coworkers, quality assurance, maintenance, and management to ensurethe highest quality products are made in the safest possible manner.Monitors availability of needed raw materials and supplies, andcoordinates with appropriate management staff. Ensures all company standardsfor safety, sanitation and productivity are maintained. Performs allscheduled grinder checks to ensure compliance with both operational and HACCPguidelines. Accurately fills out Foods Safety and Quality paperwork. Maintainsrequired production paperwork. Ensures the work area is clean and meets thecompany standards.Supports and complies with all policies and procedures that ensure foodsafety, including cleanliness and housekeeping in all work areas. Thisincludes responsibility for Safe Quality Food (SQF) for BRC compliance,HACCP, CCP tasks, sanitation, and all support program implementation.
Education/Experience:High School or GED required, with one year of manufacturing equipmentexperience in commercial food operations, preferably in a protein-relatedindustry or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as letters,memoranda, invoices, policies, and other documentation.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out de ailed butuninvolved written or oral instructions, and to deal with problems involvinga few concrete variables in standardized situations.Sufficient mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, anddivide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions,and decimals accurately. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentagecorrectly. Ability to lead problem solving and troubleshooting effortsassociated with operational-level process issues.Must be able to stand a minimum of eight hours and continuously lift,push, or pull up to 50 lbs. May help lift up to 80 lbs. with assistance.
