  Summary This position is with Child and Youth Services at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Eligible candidates that apply on or before January 17th may be sent first for consideration. This is a Regular Part-Time position with a minimum work week of 20 hours and eligible for benefits. $1000 retention bonus paid after 6 months of employment. Applicants must submit a CDL copy with applicable endorsements, (P) = Passenger and (S) = School bus, to be found eligible. Responsibilities Ensures the safety and well-being of children, youth and adults being transported to and from the program and on field trips. Knowledge of how to properly load and unload passengers. Skill in selecting the shortest and safest route. Ensures children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus. Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis. Knowledge of height, weight, width, and length of passenger shuttle vans, and cargo vans in order to judge overhead and side clearances, turning radius and braking distance. Work requires walking, lifting and carrying items weighing 40 pounds or less, driving, bending and stooping. Drives outside in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a military installation. Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change) transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job. Requires a commercial drivers license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a passenger vehicle that carries 16 or more. Education High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. The state of Washington requires endorsements CDL (P) = Passenger and (S) = School bus endorsements to legally transport children and youth in school buses. PCS Costs: Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. FWS Allowances and Differentials: This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. Incentives and bonuses: $1000 retention bonus paid after 6 months of employment. Other: Additional referrals may be made from this vacancy announcement for up to 90 days after the closing date.
