The Molasses Loader is responsible for loading trucks and railcars with industrial molasses & other byproducts. Principle accountabilities include but are not limited to: Reads and follows instructions (oral, written, and by computer) to ensure materials are loaded and unloaded into and from the proper tank and the ADC system. Conveys samples from storage or work sites to Lab for analysis. Records number of units of materials moved or handled on appropriate paperwork. Follows all safety rules. Including wearing all appropriate PPE including reflective vests. Uses blue flags when loading and unloading cars to ensure personal safety. Attaches seals to tankers and marks information on necessary forms. Makes simple adjustments or repairs such as tightening packings and replacing pipe caps. Verifies tank car numbers with loading instructions to ensure accurate by-product is loaded. Inspects interior for cleanliness and exterior for leaks and damage. Swings loading spout over dome and turns valve to admit liquids to tank. Starts pumps and turns valves to admit by-product into tank car. Inspects rupture disc, vacuum relief valve, rubber gaskets on valves and cover plates, and replaces defective parts. Pumps compressed air into steam coils to displace water during cold weather. Monitors Juice storage tank information on a daily basis. Performs all required recordkeeping. Performs tank inventories when on Day Shift as scheduled. Performs all cleaning duties in yard, at pump houses, as scheduled or as directed. Performs other duties as assigned. Works overtime as required.
