About Mobile Lab Operations Specialist I

  The Mobile Lab Operations Specialist supports the general day-to-day operation of Thorlabs’ Mobile Lab as well as driving the lab to different events across the country. They will assist in performing vehicle and trailer maintenance and care, as well as other tasks to keep the truck and trailer operational. In addition, this role will support the creation of engaging social media content in the field. They will collaborate with the mobile lab events specialist and marketing team to schedule content and align it with our brand standards.Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations. Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:Work closely with Mobile Lab Events Specialist to support marketing efforts.Meet Customer Service expectations regarding daily communications, problem resolution and appropriate follow-through.Coordinate Onsite Events while maintaining company brand through customer interactions.Support the creation of social media content related to mobile lab events.Able to be on Road for long periods (Weeks at a Time).Ability to maintain all vehicle logs required by the department of transportation (DOT).Observe and comply with all traffic regulations - federal, state and local.Deliver, set-up & breakdown Mobile Lab Trailer for all assigned events.Ensure vehicle is always neat, tidy, and polished, and carry out other regular upkeep like inflating the tires, refueling, manage fluid levels and tightening nuts and bolts.Operate equipment in a safe manner, following all safety regulations and precautions.Ensure safe transportation and delivery of people, products, and assets to designated locations.Report any delay that may affect timely arrival to the events and operations specialists.Communication of brand identity and corporate position. In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for:Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position. Physical Activities:This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. Will need to be able to setup and breakdown events, including a fold-out trailer. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. RequirementsQualificationsExperience:1-4 Years Experience Trucking or Pulling Large Trailers1-2 Years Experience in Creating Engaging Social Media Content Education:Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in communications, business, marketing, or public relations. Specialized Knowledge and Skills:Strong Customer Service Skills with Proven Experience Interacting with Customers.Highly proficient in MS Office Suite: Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.Knowledge and understanding of digital communication tools and CRM preferred with knowledge of social media strategy required.Able to Load/Enter/Operate a RAM 3500 Truck Pulling a 30-Foot TrailerMaintain DOT Requirements of License with a Clean Driving RecordPass DOT Driving PhysicalBasic Mechanical Aptitude to Maintenance Truck and TrailerExpansive knowledge of road signs and safety proceduresExcellent attention to detail, highly organized, great communication skillsAbility to work independently as well as part of cross functional teams as well as under time constraints.Ability to fluently write and speak English.
