Chemours is seeking a Remediation Manager to join our growing Minerals Operation team! This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager at our Florida and Georgia location.
Leads site remediation projects setting overall project strategy, goals and objectives for operations at complex non-operational site or a regional portfolio of sites. Develop strategic plans and the tactical steps to implement strategies that cost effectively address contamination of groundwater, surface water, sediments and soils, and, where applicable, incorporate the vision for future site use. Responsible for accurate forecast of site expenditures, review, approval and management of scope/schedule/budget, identification of resource needs, and consultant management.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assess, develop and lead closure strategy development for all Minerals Operations sites (past, active and future) within Titanium Technologies, Chemours;
Identify closure activities in terms of objectives, principal work streams, personnel, equipment, timelines, and budgets;
Ensure effective systems and procedures are in place to execute the closure activities;
Review of permits, licenses, leases, incidents, policies, procedures and other relevant documents to understand the detailed objectives, designs and activities required to effectively close sites;
Manage costs associated with Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO), remediation projects and any other directly managed activities;
Mentor and lead (not directly) workforce to improve rehabilitation planning, quality, and efficiency. Note: Reclamation will be directly managed by operational area managers.
Minimize costs while ensuring that all company, regulatory and landowner obligations are met;
Conduct audits of past and present activities to identify ideal approaches and issues;
Provide direction to project, operational and environmental teams to minimize future closure costs and avoid legacy issues; and
Provide technical radiation, water quality and humate management support to the operations.
Maintain strong working relationships with regulatory agencies and key stakeholders
Proactively increase knowledge of current and emerging federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements affecting site operations
Maintain a strong working knowledge of site processes and how they affect compliance
Develop corrective and preventative actions
Routine field auditing and visibility for interactions with employees.
Drive and maintain continuous improvements of the site EHS managing processes and procedures.
Participate in relevant site incident investigations to address/ determine root causes, key factors, and corrective actions.
Work to improve systems, processes, individual capability and ownership around environmental compliance.
The following is required for this role:
BS or higher degree in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, engineering, or other related field.
Minimum 10 years of project related field experience and project management experience.
Professional on-the-job experience related to performing and leading environmental field work for site characterization and remediation projects, and an understanding of field methodology and procedures.
Knowledge and experience with various media (e.g., soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water and sediment) investigations, data assessments/evaluations, and remediation technologies.
Experience performing safety hazard analysis and mitigation associated with environmental remediation tasks and writing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Demonstrated experience with a range of environmental regulatory programs relevant to remediation obligations.
The following is preferred for this role:
Team management and industrial experience in a manufacturing or mining company is preferred OR military equivalent experience.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision. Additionally, the successful candidate will be one who can multi-task, and effectively deal with fast changing and sometimes conflicting priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, organizational, and interpersonal relationship skills.
Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and data management software
