Position Summary:
The Military Transcript Evaluator plays a critical role in the Registrar's Office, responsible for assessing and evaluating military transcripts and related documents to determine the transferability of military training and coursework into college credit. This position requires attention to detail, knowledge of military education systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with academic departments to ensure accurate and fair credit evaluation. The position will evaluate transfer credit and prior learning experiences and monitor students’ progress toward graduation. The incumbent works closely with students, faculty, and staff to help students achieve educational goals.
Essential Functions:
• Evaluate military transcripts and other military educational documents, to determine transfer credits, credit for prior learning, and their equivalencies to the college’s academic programs.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of evaluated military transcripts, transfer credits awarded, and related documentation in accordance with institutional policies and applicable laws.
• Collaborate with military-affiliated students to provide information about the transcript evaluation process, transfer credit decisions, and academic requirements.
• Monitor students’ progress toward graduation.
• Communicate findings to students in a clear and concise manner.
• Stay current with federal, state, and institutional regulations related to military transcript evaluation, including compliance with the Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DoD) guidelines.
• Assist military-affiliated students in understanding how their transfer credits apply to their chosen academic programs and degree requirements.
• Prepare and maintain detailed reports and statistics related to military transcript evaluations for reporting purposes and audits.
• Stay informed about changes in military educational systems, credit transfer policies, and best practices in military transcript evaluation through professional development opportunities.
• Provide exceptional customer service to military-affiliated students, offering support and guidance throughout their academic journey.
• Collaborate with academic departments, admissions, and other relevant offices to resolve transfer credit issues and ensure a seamless transition for military-affiliated students.
• Assist with additional tasks and projects with the Registrar’s Office as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Prior experience in a similar role within higher education or similar setting.
• Familiarity with federal and state regulations related to military education and veteran’s benefits.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Computer skills with knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong cross-cultural, interpersonal, and writing skills.
• Associate’s degree in relevant discipline preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
