MIG Welder
Summary of the position:This position requires an individual to perform MIG welding on a wide range of components.
Duties and responsibilities:Selecting, measuring, cutting, and joining appropriate metals to specifications.Requires a thorough knowledge of welding techniques, material characteristics and structural fundamentals.Working with different sized bases and frames, structural steel and plate steel weldments.Interpreting specifications and blueprints accurately.Determining correct gas ratios and wire feed speed.Testing the strength of each joint during and after project completion.Driving a forklift, operating cranes and other machinery to transport materials.Qualifications:
Education:High School Education or equivalent.Welding Certificate preferred.
Professional experience:Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.5-10+ years of welding experience preferred and/or welding trades schooling.Strong mathematical skills.Understand technical blueprints.Exhibit customer-focused behavior through effective communication with internal customers, peers and leadership team.Computer skills required (i.e., spreadsheets, data entry, email).Ability to use precision measurement device to work within tight tolerances.Ability to work with cranes, sharp edges on machined parts, electrical components and moving parts by carts.
Key behaviors:Lifting up to 35 lbs.Lifting over 35 lbs. requires a lifting device, crane, or assistance from another associate.Standing and walking minimum of 8 hours.Must be able to bend/stoop, squat/crouch, kneel and twist.Must understand and comply with Sullair Safety Standards.Participate in EHS quarterly audits, if required.Required to wear the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the work area.Required to attend scheduled toolbox and safety meetings.Must immediately report injuries or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.Ability to work flexible shifts and overtime.AssertiveCritical ThinkingProcess DrivenGood Communication SkillsTeam OrientedPassionate
