Microbiology Technician
Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Quality Control Microbiology Technician to join a dynamic team within the life sciences sector. This role is crucial for performing routine testing on a variety of samples such as raw materials, finished products, stability samples, and research and development products, all contributing to on-time product release metrics. Ensuring compliance with company policies, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), health, and safety requirements is a key aspect of this role.
Responsibilities include conducting routine assays, microbial identifications, maintaining laboratory culture collections, environmental summary preparations, data maintenance and analysis, media preparation, glassware washing, and support of laboratory testing validations. You will also be involved in facility validation activities and lab responsibility rotations, which include weekend testing.
Hard Skills
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or equivalent Life Science
1-2 years of relevant work experience in a cGMP compliant industry
Proficiency in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data maintenance and trend analysis
Experience with temperature charting, media preparation, and autoclave operations
Familiarity with compendial testing and USP
Soft Skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Effective communication skills with peers and management
Team player with a collaborative attitude
Strong reading, writing, and English language skills
Commitment to a quality culture and support of EHS and SOS initiatives
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Ability to stand for up to 4 hours at a time
Ability to lift and/or carry 25 lbs.
Ability to achieve 20/20 correctable vision
Maintain proper personal hygiene and wear laboratory PPE/attire within a professional laboratory setting
