We are looking for a Sustaining Engineering Manager for the Navojoa - Mexico Kidde residential alarm team. As a sustaining engineering manager, you will use your problem solving and project management skills to see the completion of projects involving alternate components/designs for value engineering and end of life notifications, production process improvements as well as improvements to existing products. You will use your keen interpersonal skills to build strong cross-functional relationships. Our team strives for continuous improvement and execution of design. Using your detail-oriented skills and personal drive you will help us achieve our technical program goals.
This is a global position, and the Sustaining Engineering Manager will be responsible to drive cost effective actions on products and quality improvements at North America market. It is extremely important the connection with global facilities and global leaders to leverage global talent pool and global knowledge in order to optimize time for execution and deliverable. You also will be managing and developing a team of engineers (defining goals, performance assessment, hiring, etc)
You will be in a excite and dynamic environment working daily with cross cultural team. Is expected as leader you provide technical guidance and coaching for team members in order to support Kidde future leaders’ development succession plan at the same time you are delivering business results to positively impact the company revenue.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead team of global engineers tasked with addressing needed changes, qualifying alternate parts and designs, expanding existing products to new markets and pushing through enhancements to delight the customers.
Drive Technical Design Reviews to guarantee process adherence and milestones completion.
Execute Fire and Security products (Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarms) in a timely manner to meet needs of a fast-paced environment.
Collaborate with production engineers to ensure manufacturability while maintaining high quality products.
Communicate and manage approval projects at various North America and international regulatory agencies (UL, Ulc, BSI, etc.)
Communicate status to management and team on a regular cadence – Dashboard management.
Provide comprehensive report outs to management to garner approval for necessary change releases.
Identify and mitigate risks using common risk and failure mode management tools such as FMEA or other quality tools.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or science / administration field required.
Advance degree in Quality is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
5+ years’ experience in electronic products with a background in electrical engineering or quality
Self-motivated and can organize tasks to meet team objectives.
Outstanding organization and documentation focused
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Collaborative with experience working on a cross-functional team(s)
Knowledge with Microsoft Project and risk management tools
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where execution is key to driving results
Understands how to determine appropriate scope of technical problems.
English and Spanish fluence is required.
Preferred:
Manufacturing and Quality experience
Knowledge of sensor/detectors/alarms design and processes a benefit
Experience in consumer electronics and consumer product design is a plus
Experience with high volume manufacturing
