Job Description
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
Reducing change-over time for manufacturing equipment within our facility. Identify process improvement opportunities and implement changes to increase throughput, and/or reduce scrap. Work with R&D on new product releases, this can include design input, selecting manufacturing processes, creating BOM’s/routes/costing, and machine fixturing. Work with QA to identify and disposition discrepant parts. Creating Engineering notices to track and document changes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(Experience, education, licenses, certifications, and specific knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position.)
Education:
Bachelors of Science degree in an engineering discipline, with 2-4 years manufacturing experience
or an A.A. degree in a technical or scientific field with at least 8 years manufacturing experience
or a high school diploma with at least 12 years manufacturing experience and machine design
Familiarity with manufacturing operations and equipment
3 years Lean Manufacturing experience in a production environment
Understanding of SMED concepts and the importance of reducing changeover and set-up times
Experience in tooling and fixture design
Knowledge of machine shop operations
3D Modeling software experience, SolidWorks preferred
Excellent organizational, communication, problem solving, project management and teamwork skills
Experience in a matrix team environment.
Able to operate well in an unstructured environment with minimal direct supervision
Strong customer focus
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(Fundamental duties necessary to achieve the objective of the position.)
Implement approved capital projects for new process equipment and tooling on time within budget. Improve process capability to guarantee product quality and performance. Ensuring execution of project deliverables supporting the single piece flow initiative. Improve manufacturing productivity by making bottleneck operations run faster, safer and more reliably. Document new or changed designs on Engineering drawings and specifications. Issue product/process requests and releases. Compiles and analyzes test data to determine effect of design on products, systems, or equipment. Develop specifications for selecting components and equipment to use. Works closely with the sourcing team in selecting and working with outside vendors, both international and domestic. Participate in marketing events with outdoor journalists, or industry symposiums and trade shows Participate in multiple projects at a time. Assist Safety Department with Process Hazard Analysis and incident investigations in manufacturing departments supported. Provide product technical support for customer complaints/inquiries, and non-manufacturing support departments. Deal with external vendors to support manufacturing department orders. Assist Quality Department with product issues, lead projects through manufacturing to determine root cause, implement changes to process.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

Physical Requirements: Employee will be sitting the majority of the time, with some walking and standing. Minor lifting objects over 10 lbs., carrying, stooping, and kneeling to access books and reports, transport paperwork and materials, and to retrieve files. Some local travel and work outdoors. Manual dexterity for extensive computer work and writing. Hearing, speaking, and vision are required (with or without correction).
Mental Requirements: Must communicate effectively in verbal and written formats. Reading comprehension and basic math skills are a requirement. Flexibility to effectively deal with a variety of people and situations and to handle interruptions and multiple tasks simultaneously. Quick thinking and problem solving to readily assimilate information. Ability to maintain tact and highly professional manners. Initiative to effectively complete tasks with little supervision. The ability to identify and appropriately handle confidential information.
Equipment Used: Telephone, calculator, personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, and printer.
Working Environment: Work is done in an office environment, with some time spent in the manufacturing plant. This exposure subjects incumbents to temperature changes, dirt, dust, noise, vibration, moving objects and mechanical parts, machine tool lubricant mists, equipment and explosive hazards. Co-worker support, guidance and reinforcement are readily available.

Preferred experience in a repetitive, high volume manufacturing environment.Pay Range:
$64,500.00 - $96,700.00
The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
