Metrologist / Measurement Technician | St Petersburg, Florida

Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Metrologist / Measurement Technician to work for their manufacturing client in St Petersburg, FL.
Overview
Performs in-process / courtesy / quality witness / final inspections on machined parts, electro-mechanical, mechanical parts utilizing Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMMs) for dimensions and structural flaws to extremely close tolerances requiring proficient knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
Proficiency utilizing a variety of other precision inspection instruments and gages to perform inspections per drawing criteria including critical dimensions to extremely tight tolerances.
The candidate should have proficient experience working and navigating on a computer to read / understand work instructions and working in software to capture inspection planning and acceptance.
Assist in the design, prototyping, and building of measurement fixtures as needed to gain evaluation efficiency.
Assist in Calibration Events for mechanical measuring devices.
Keep up to date with measurement methods, technology, and guidelines.
Qualifications
Experience required in the following:
CMM experience
Program, set up, and operate CMM to make complex, precise measurements of materials and parts.
Write and modify existing programs and create new ones as required.
Use of Hexagon software
Mechanical Quality Inspection techniques using a wide variety of Precision measurement tools.
Engineering / blueprint drawing reading / interpretation
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Desired Skills
Experience with aerospace hardware
Familiar with military specifications
Familiar with Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility studies, capability studies, and correlation studies
Analytical problem-solving techniques where appropriate providing support for investigations of issues and development work.
