Job Description
Our Training Specialist is responsible for classroom, virtual, online,and hands-on education for the Renewable Training Programs team with anemphasis on medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) substation systemsand components. This individual partners with Safety, Operations andOperations Engineering to ensure the training programs and instructionare meeting the needs of the fleet with respect to safety and technicalneeds.
Please note, for this position we are looking for a candidate to live acommutable distance to Bolingbrook, IL in the Western Suburbs ofChicago. There will be expected travel (up to 50%) to our trainingfacility in Bloomington-Normal, IL for approximately two (2) years untilour brand new training facility is complete. This position will beremote during that approximate two (2) year period. Long term, thisposition will be working out of our brand new training facility inBolingbrook, IL.
Responsibilities:
Teach multiple courses related to MV/HV substation systems andcomponents (how to perform inspections and execute procedures forisolation of feeders, grounding, switching and clearances) andPadmount Transformer and Collection Systems (how to executeprocedures for PMT switching and grounding, bypassing, linelocating, junction boxes, fault indicators, PMT oil sampling, PMTinspections, lightning arresters, PMT change outs, splice contractoroversight, PMT IR scans etc.) for Wind, Solar and/or Battery Storagesites while maintaining the highest quality standards for safety,electrical awareness and technical knowledge.Support the development of in-house training by consulting withmanagement, subject matter experts and internal customers.Evaluate effectiveness and suggest enhancements to in-house andvendor-supplied training.Create and update training course materials.Maintain tracking and storage of required training sessiondocumentation.Support the review and closure of Tech Progression OJT items andother types of evaluations.Support strategic company projects related to training anddevelopment.Travel to Training Center in Bloomington, IL as needed to conducttraining and skills-based evaluations.Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
Minimum one to three years of operations or training experience inpower generation, energy, or other closely related industry or fieldof work.Self-starter with the ability to effectively prioritize and deliverresults.Ability to recognize the impact of changing technology on trainingneeds and provide recommended solutions.Strong presentation and group facilitation skills.Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.Ability to travel approximately 50% within the United States.#LI-REMOTE
