Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) was established in 1969 to offer patients the highest quality eye care and laser/surgical treatment. 　　Currently, OCB is seeking an Ophthalmic Technicians/Scribes for our Sandwich office with travel to Falmouth, Plymouth, and Yarmouth (1 x per month). 

　　The primary responsibility of an Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe is to provide accurate documentation and summarization of the ocular examination and recommendations, while maintaining patient flow and communication regarding appointment status.

　　Example of Duties:

　　Correctly summarize and document what the physician says during an examination, including but not limited to, proper charting of the examination: documenting additions to the chief complaint, assessment, and recommendations for treatment.

　　Assist when appropriate during the exam, including but not limited to holding the patient’s head in the slit lamp, providing additional medications and/or instruments, following directions in a medical emergency.

　　Provides written instructions and/or patient education materials for the patient to review at home. Ensure patient understands all instructions.

　　Accurately maintain patient charts

　　Maintain patient flow.

　　Assists floor technicians with patient care as needed.

　　Requirements:

　　High school diploma. Basic understanding of algebraic principles.

　　Two or more years of experience in an office setting; health care experience a plus.

　　Excellent spelling ability. Must be detail oriented and organized.

　　Must have strong PC and administrative skills.

　　Must be able to do accurate refractions efficiently.
