　　Summary: In Transfusion Services in the Clinical Laboratory at UCH, staff works closely with our medical directors to provide transfusion support for patients in a fast-paced environment. Our department is proud to have multiple AABB assessors and SBBs on staff. We care for patients from the Level 1 Trauma program to our extensive transplant services, including complex patients from our Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant programs.

　　Work Schedule: Full Time Evenings

　　Responsibilities:

　　Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens. Interprets, documents and reports test results.

　　Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.

　　Complies with good laboratory practice and regulatory requirements.

　　Performs projects as assigned as well as serves as a resource to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.

　　Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

　　Requirements:

　　Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree and graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist program. Required Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or categorical ASCP certification in a laboratory specialty/sub-specialty as applicable to job responsibilities. State licensure if required by law. Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Relevant life support certification as determined at position level.

　　Minimum Experience: None Required.

　　Preferred previous experience in blood banking in a fast paced environment.The pay range for this position is: $31.61 - $47.41 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
