Responsibilities Rooms patients, collects assessment dataand prepares patient according to specific need. Assists in examination,treatment and other clinic procedures. Assists with laboratoryprocedures, screening tests and QI projects. Answers telephone andeither responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, orinitiates a triage slip for response by medical personnel. Schedulesappointments and enters appointment date and time into computerizedscheduler. Conducts reminder calls to all patients. Greet and directspatients, salespeople, and visitors. Registers patients by verifyingthat patient\'s record is up to date and accurate. Makes appropriatechanges in computer system and on patient\'s chart. Coordinatesreferrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.Collects payment from patients and issues receipt. Prepares andmaintains patient charts. Maintains and orders supplies. Education andExperience Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by theAccrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commissionon Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), orgraduate of a medical assistant program in a postsecondary school orcollege that has institutional accreditation by a regional accreditingcommission or by a national accrediting organization approved by theU.S. Department of Education, Experience in clinic setting preferred.Certification/Licensure Required current CMA certification through theAAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) or RMA certificationthrough the AMT (American Medical Technologists) or CCMA (CertifiedClinical Medical Assistant) through NHA (National HealthcareerAssociation) that have also completed the education requirements.Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days. Medicationinjection training and pharmacology is a required competency to performmedication administration.
