As a Medical Assistant, you will work and assist healthcare providers and other team members in the clinic. You will perform a range of back office and patient-related tasks, ensuring smooth patient and workflow, and performing various patient care procedures that fall under the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of practice. These procedures may include injections, EKGs, ear lavage, blood draws, measuring vital signs (weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and temperature), managing patient flow, and assisting with pre-visit preparation, patient visits, and post-visit duties.

Responsibilities

Virginia Mason Issaquah is seeking a certified Medical Assistant. You will assist providers and other members of the health care team in the clinic by performing a variety of back office and patient-related tasks and ensuring smooth patient and workflow within the department. You will also perform variety of patient care procedures within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of practice. These procedures may include but are not limited to: injections, EKGs, ear lavage and blood draws, measuring patient vital signs (weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and temperature),manage rooming and patient flow including pre-visit preparation, assisting with the patient visit, and post-visit duties. You will inform providers of schedule changes that impact patient flow, assist with front office activities and varied scheduling tasks and reports test results as directed by the provider.

Schedules, cancels and reschedules patient appointments by assessing caller's specific needs through probing questions while maintaining patient confidentiality and simultaneously providing each caller with extraordinary and efficient customer service.

Communicates efficiently and effectively with the clinical care team, written or verbally, on behalf of the patient, may be a team facilitator.

Performs one or more of the following:

a) Online scheduling requests- assists patients with their health care needs through a patient initiated online request.

b) Initiates appointment reminder calls to patients.

c) Initiates outbound calls to patients to encourage scheduling of routine and/or preventative care, disease management and medication management.

In addition to providing indirect care to patients, duties may include direct patient care.

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or GED and ability to read and comprehend at a 12th Grade Level or above.

Graduation from an accredited medical Assisting program, With Washington State Department of Health medical Assistant - Certified (CM) or medical Assistant Interim (IC) credential required.

knowledge of third party payer requirements required.

Strong aptitude for detail, and ability to work independently, required.

Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills required. skill in using a PC required.
