Mechanical Engineer II - APNT Hardware (Onsite)
At Collins Aerospace, our Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Systems organization is a growing business area in need of a qualified mechanical engineer to support development and factory transition of state of the art navigation products for the Government marketplace. The ideal candidate shall have a well-rounded background; one that has demonstrated experience or training in multiple aspects of mechanical engineering design and analysis tasks to determine design solutions for electronic and electromechanical systems. Tasks require knowledge of material properties, fabrication processes and thermal/structural analysis techniques and/or Mechanical Computer Aided Engineering (MCAE) tools. This is an individual contributor role in which the engineer is part of a cohesive team of engineers responsible for developing key subsystems for the PNT product lines.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participate in product development activities including cost estimates, implementation of standard specifications, drawing board layout, and development of performance or maintenance requirements.
Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components. Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.
Resolve day-to-day technical problems on the production lines to minimize disruption.
Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.
Test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects.
Produce parts, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests
Research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of electromechanical systems, instruments, and/or controls.
May evaluate and analyze various mechanical products to determine their cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
