  SUMMARYOur mission is to develop and produce realistic training tools that provide the realism demanded by the military and emergency medical domains. In addition to the realism, true training tools need to be a complement to training exercises, not a piece that demand time and attention. Training sessions are effective, both in cost and in educational value, when they can be repeated with minimal interruption - they must serve the greatest number for the greatest amount of time.This NAR Associate will participate as a TEAM member within the Simulations department and help facilitate smooth processes among other team members. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESThis is not an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities. Projects/duties may be modified/changed/added/deleted as needed.•Designs or modifies simulation and training tools for the military and emergency medical domains•Works with electrical and software engineering counterparts to develop solutions •Provides support for production and training teams•Domain expert for mechanical components and interfaces thereofSUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES•Manages small scale CNC work areas which includes producing part files, maintenance of equipment and training to production teams•Manages 3D printing work areas which includes producing part files, maintenance of equipment and training to production teams•Completes any tasks and/or projects assigned by supervisorAUTHORITY•Works on a small multi-disciplinary engineering team•Reports to supervisorACCOUNTABILITY•Drives product to market through R&DQUALIFICATIONSEducation•BS or equivalent preferred but not requiredCompetency and Skills•Able to model 3-D parts and assemblies using CAD software. Autodesk Fusion360 preferred, experience with other packages is applicable.•Strong surface modeling skills: This position will require experience modeling surfaces which are organic in nature.•Able to produce 2-D drawings in accordance with GD&T standards.Experience•5-7 years of work experience as a Mechanical Engineer or similar•Design for Assembly (DFA)•Design for Manufacturing (DFM)•Experience operating small scale CNC machine for prototyping purposes•3D Printing experience highly preferred•Experience bringing products from customer input through to market with a focus on ascertaining critical features through customer relationsSpecific Characteristics•Self-starter•Task oriented - ability to define tasks from vague concepts, handles multiple tasks, prioritizes, periodically provides updates to supervisor•Builds effective working relationships•Consistently applies good communication skills: both oral and written•Possesses strong quality orientation, attention to detail, and personal desire to meet/exceed requirements•Works effectively and efficiently with limited direction and supervision•Demonstrates ability to change direction and focus as directedDEMANDSTime and Availability•Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours each week from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. or some variation thereof•Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demandTravel•Must be able to travel up to 20% of time to customer sitesPhysicalThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a typical office employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
